Dr. Mustafa Coban is a Lecturer in Academic Writing at the Centre for Academic Writing. He completed his PhD in Applied Linguistics, and his thesis research was awarded a ‘TOEFL ETS Small Grant for Doctoral Research in Second or Foreign Language Assessment’ in 2018. Mustafa has 12 years of university level teaching and leadership experience. He has delivered courses on English for Specific Purposes (EAP) and English for Academic and Specific purposes (EASP). In this capacity, he has developed and taught skills-based modules, including academic writing modules at various levels. He has also led workgroups that prepared H5P based interactive lecturing videos as part of developing digital materials for learning platforms. Mustafa’s academic interests lie in academic writing, corpus linguistics, language assessment, curriculum development, and English-medium instruction. He is available to work with colleagues across the disciplines on their teaching of writing and on their writing for publication.
