Understanding Statistical Inference - What is a p-value? Online

This session is bookable please by only postgraduate researchers (PGRs) undertaking a PhD or research staff from the Coventry University Group. Students on taught programmes of study (undergraduate or postgraduate) can obtain one to one help from sigma (please see http://sigma.coventry.ac.uk )

Hypothesis testing is the process of using a sample of data collected from your research in order to make statements or inferences about a larger population of interest. There are many different methods of analysis, the choice of which depend upon the type of data collected and the design of the study. However, this session will focus on providing an understanding the generic principles underlying these methods, such as the use of p-values and confidence intervals. The session will also discuss how to report results in the published literature, and how to make sense of those results.

All sessions will be held online using Microsoft Teams the link will be provided in the registration email.
