Workshop 7: Introduction to Non-Parametric Statistics In-Person
If you have ordinal or nominal data, e.g. obtained using questionnaires, then you need some special methods to analyse the data which called non-parametric methods. These are also useful if you can’t use t-tests or ANOVA (studied in Workshops 5 and 6 above) due to problems with the assumption of normality. We will consider tests such as Mann-Whitney tests and Kruskal-Wallis tests for an ordinal response (dependent) variable as wells Chi-Squared tests for nominal data. There will be an opportunity to practice how to carry out the analyses using SPSS.
