CAW Facilitated Writing Time (All Assignment Writing) In-Person
CAW Facilitated Writing Time (All Assignment Writing) sessions are aimed at any undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate taught (PGT) students at any study level working on a current assignment. These sessions are not for postgraduate researcher (PGR) students as separate sessions are available.
These sessions are an excellent opportunity for you to have a dedicated writing space in the Centre for Academic Writing. An Academic Writing Tutor will be present for quick guidance and advice.
These sessions are not for getting feedback or in-depth guidance on what you have written so far, or to be used as one of CAW's drop-in sessions. You will be given guidance only on what you are working on during these sessions.
You may register for multiple sessions. Places are limited to 15 attendees so it is important that should you not be able to attend, you cancel your place on the workshop using the cancellation link in the confirmation or reminder email. Please be aware that if you register for multiple sessions but do not attend the first one and have not cancelled your registration in advance, this may result in your other registered session being cancelled.

IMPORTANT NOTES: You will need to bring a laptop, your assignment brief, the assignment draft you are working on, and any notes, journal articles, books or other materials you need to work on your writing draft during the session.
Please arrive at the Centre for Academic Writing at least five minutes before the start of the Facilitated Writing Time. Joining the session late is disruptive to both Academic Writing Tutor and other attendees. You may be refused entry if you are more than five minutes late. You are expected to stay for the whole session.
Jacquie Carlton-Sorrell has been an Academic Writing Tutor at The Centre for Academic Writing (CAW) since 2012 and enjoys working with students from all disciplines on their writing. Jacquie has a Masters's degree in English Language and Linguistics, a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and TEFL, a PGCert in Teaching in Further and Higher Education, and the Cambridge DELTA and CELTA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Prior to becoming a tutor, she was an Hourly Paid Lecturer in the Department of English and Languages. In the past, she has taught English and Spanish language and was a Registered General Nurse for 15 years until 2008, during which time as well as practising in the Acute and Primary Care sectors she taught Health and Social Care, mentored regularly, and assessed Clinical Support Workers. Jacquie enjoys adopting a collaborative approach to tutoring and looks forward to supporting students with all areas of their writing.
